City / Mobility

WORKSHOP. STANY CAMBOT
11-14.05.2010

stany-cambot-smalaQuestioning the notion of “mobile city” or what is mobile in the city means exploring the gaps on the city map. This is what Cambot proposes to do during this workshop: a crossing through the city, with a look on how the city land registers, rejects, prohibits, tolerates, arranges, or makes, mobility and nomadism. During four days workshops students will try to identify nomadic architectures raising the points of friction or meeting between the city of the real estate and traces of what hinders building. Students will also try to locate and visit spaces that welcome nomadism like spaces open to traveling entertainers, carparks of periphery. Participants will try drawing map(s), and try questioning the mode of representation of a territory discovered by this prism.

Stany Cambot, architect and scenographer creates installations and urban interventions. Cambot graduated the School of Architecture in Normandy. In 1998, Cambot founded a collective Echelle Inconnue. Since then he is working on the concepts of city, site and its performance. www.echelleinconnue.net
